The Meagher County City Library has received ninety-three new children’s books through the Books for Children Grant sponsored by The Libri Foundation. The books arrived in February and are now catalogued, ready for checkout and displayed on special shelving in the children’s area of the library. All titles have won awards or have been highly recommended by recognized authorities in the library and education fields. The matching $500 necessary to apply for this grant was donated to the library. This $500 provided $1504.31 worth of books. The original matching 2-to-1 grant was to provide $1000 in children’s books but increased by an additional $500 when Bruce Campbell and his late mother made a generous donation to the Foundation and requested the money be used to offer grants to rural libraries in Idaho, Montana and Wyoming. The Libri Foundation was established in 1989 for the sole purpose of helping rural libraries acquire new, quality, hardcover children’s books they could not otherwise afford to buy.
